Dynamic Island vs a health companion in the same notch
Alcove's job is the iPhone island on a Mac. Notifications land there. Live Activities cover now playing, calendar, and similar status. Swipe gestures skip tracks or dismiss an activity. Customizable HUDs move volume and brightness into the cutout. Lock screen widgets (now playing, Focus, weather, battery, connectivity, calendar) sit on the Mac lock screen. Changelog 1.7 adds duo mode and a pill for Macs without a notch. That is a system overlay, built to feel like iOS.
HealthyNotch never tries that surface. The expanded notch is a small panel for today's water, the next nudge, and Balance Score. Collapsed, it stays quiet. There is no now-playing island, no HUD takeover, no lock screen widgets. If the cutout is hardware you want to make useful the way an iPhone is useful, Alcove is the product. If the cutout is a place you will actually glance to drink, look away, stand, or sit up, HealthyNotch is the product.
